In good condition here is a scarce, extremely early copy of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. Published in 1850 by George Routledge & Co., London in their Railway series. This being a Fireside Companion copy, so rare that it is not even mentioned in Gilson's bibliography. In the original green publisher's binding.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With a faint, pencilled early price of "1/6" opposite the title page, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Has a few small nicks to the top edge and a few folded corners, otherwise super. The top closed edge has some toning, with one faint brown blemish to the outside fore-edge. Ends with two original advertisements.

In the original publisher's green cloth covered boards with blind-stamped floral decoration to the front and back, and lovely gilt to the spine. Again in very good order. With a few lightly faded areas on the back, but minor, Has mildly rounded corners. The cloth on the spine has tanned a little in comparison to the boards, and there is some rubbing to the cloth on the spine ends. With a small split, and tiny area of loss at the head of the spine. The gilt is shiny and bright, and this is an attractive book.
