1788 Fables of Aesop - Antique, Leather Bound Book

At 238 years old, and in very good condition, here is an antique copy of Fables of Aesop. Published in 1788 by W Phorson of Berwick, a known and respected northern provincial publisher. In a later, smart full leather binding.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Has just the occasional small ink mark, including in a couple of places on the title page. This is an unillustrated version of the fables. New endpapers at the same time as the later leather binding, and the free papers have some tanning.

Full leather binding has also fared well. There is some rubbing to the corners and spine ends, with a little loss to the head of the spine. A few small chips around the edges. The spine has six raised bands and simple gilt decoration. Again just a little rubbing to the hinges and bands. Overall clean and very smart.
