A Tale of Two Cities and A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens / 1930s Illustrated / 5 Dickens Christmas Novellas / In Good Vintage Condition

Here is an attractive volume of a number of Dickens stories, which includes: A Tale of Two Cities; A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket on the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man. The latter being the five Dickens Christmas novellas. Undated, but research shows it to have been published by Hazell, Watson and Viney of London in the 1930s. This is an illustrated edition featuring the excellent original artwork featured in the first editions of these stories (see photos).

In good condition for a vintage book of around 90 years old. The contents are clean and tightly bound and the book has never been written in. Has some spotting to the outside edges and a scratch across the fore-edge. The top closed edge is tinted light blue. Overall the condition of the contents is very good.

With dark blue cloth covered boards. The front board has blind-stamped decoration comprising of the signature of Charles Dickens in an ornate border, with further borders at the top and bottom. Has a few faint marks to the boards including one to the bottom front corner - but minor. With some light rubbing to the corners and spine ends. Overall a smart edition that looks very attractive on the vintage book shelf.
