1991 Jane Austen Novels Box Set in 7 Volumes / Folio Society, London / 6 Novels Plus Shorter Works / Excellent Condition / Pride & Prejudice

In excellent condition, here is a boxed set of Jane Austen's six completed novels plus also a volume of her Shorter Works. Each hardback volume is illustrated with superb woodcut engravings by Joan Hassall (see photos). With printed paper sides, designed by the artist and red buckram spines with ornate gilt decoration. All in the original slipcase box - also top notch. With a small bump to the top edge of Northanger Abbey being the only condition point to note. Books definitely have the feel of never having been read.

The novels included are: Sense and Sensibility; Pride and Prejudice; Mansfield Park; Emma; Northanger Abbey; Persuasion. 

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound and appear never to have been read. With no writing or inscriptions. Printed on high quality Bulstrode Wove paper.

The papered boards are also superb, as are the red cloth spines which remain unfaded. The gilt has stayed sparkly bright and this is a lovely set. 

The red slipcase box is smart and sturdy. It should continue to protect the books for many more years to come.
