Here is a lovely first edition copy of Rolls: Man of Speed A Life of Charles Stewart Rolls and Some Account of the Early Days of Motoring and Flying by Laurence Meynell. Richly illustrated with numerous black and white photos. In the original dust wrapper which reads:
" In his short, exciting life CS Rolls did almost everything a man with the spirit of adventure in his blood can do, marking his path through the late Victorian and Edwardian scenes with a succession of triumphs which, together with his talent for showmanship, brought and kept his name before the whole world...Balloooning, motor racing, flying - he took to them in turn...Then came his meeting with that master engineer Henry Royce, and the partnership which grew into the incomparable Rolls Royce, the greatest name in motoring...As a young man, rich, of good family and endowed with good looks as well as a quick mind, the world was at his feet... His success in the early days of motor racing was followed by balloon exploits and finally capped by his triumphant double Channel crossing in his biplane, the first ever made. But ultimately, it was the same crude contraption of wood and canvas that tragically killed him in his prime."
Inside the pages are in good condition being clean, bright and tightly bound. The only real condition point to note with the contents is some light foxing scattered through the text. There is also slightly heavier spotting to the closed outside edges. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership.
In the original price-clipped dust wrapper which is illustrated on the front and spine. Also good with the only real CONDITION POINT to note being a torn area with some loss along the top edge over the "Rolls". This is a lovely vintage jacket which has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable plastic sleeve.
Your copy of Rolls: Man of Speed will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and will be sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
H 21 cm x W 14 cm, 159 pages, 0.36 kg. I dispatch worldwide daily from the UK. (There are just a very few countries which I am unable to ship to).
* If you would prefer for your book not to be wrapped simply add a note to the order.
