In the scarce pink dust wrappers, here is a lovely vintage three-volume set of Wayside and Woodland Blossoms A Guide To British Wild Flowers by Edward Step. Published to a high standard by Frederick Warne and Co. Ltd of London in 1948. With hundreds of beautiful botanical illustrations painted in colour and in addition many more black and white plates.

Volume I First Series has coloured figures of 127 species and 150 text illustrations including a pictorial colour key to the plates.

Volume II Second Series has 130 coloured figures, and 140 text illustrations including a pictorial key to the plates.

Volume III Third Series has 64 coloured figures, 87 photos and 119 text illustrations including a pictorial key to the plates.

The contents are in excellent condition. With no writing or markings of previous ownership. With speckled outside edges, as published. Has some toning along the closed top edges.

Bound in dark maroon red faux leather with gilt and black titling and a gilt illustration on the front boards and again with gilt titling to the spines. All in excellent condition, having been well protected by the dust wrappers. 

The scarce jackets themselves have been price-clipped. They are clean and smart and have kept strong, un-faded colours. There is mild edgewear nicks, chips and creases, and a small area of loss to the bottom of the spine of Volume III (see final close-up photo). Overall looking extremely smart and eye-catching. They have now been protected for the future by the addition of removable plastic sleeves.
