I am thrilled with this discovery of The Allied Press Newspaper Miniature Shakespeare Series from 1932. Being a first edition thus series of forty miniature volumes (each 5 x 3.5cm), printed in easily readable 6 point typeface, housed in a smart wooden bookcase which is included. Black rexine (imitation leather) covers have lettering and decoration to the spines. Each book has a pictoral frontispiece and marbled endpapers. A very good set, complete.
Condition of the books and the wooden shelf is very good. One or two of the books have creased corners to the covers (see photos). Contents are all very good with no writing or marks. The lettering and decoration on the spines has dulled over time (common with this series).
The set comprises 38 plays - each in its own volume; a single volume of sonnets and poems; and a final volume which is a biography of Shakespeare. Each volume contains a summary of the play, a list of characters, and the approximate date of composition.
Your antique set and bookshelf will be wrapped with great care and sent well packaged with tracking and insurance. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
