Here is an antique copy of Tales from Shakespeare by Charles Lamb. Undated, but would have been published in the 1920s by Blackie and Son, London. With four black and white illustrated plates.

The Tales are a beloved collection of adaptations that makes the works of William Shakespeare more accessible and enjoyable, especially for younger readers. Re-telling some of Shakespeare's most famous plays in prose form, simplifying the complex language while preserving the essence and charm of the original stories.

Contents: Romeo and Juliet; King Lear; Othello; Macbeth; The Merchant of Venice; The Comedy of Errors; Hamlet; The Tempest; As You Like It; Much Ado About Nothing; A Midsummer Night's Dream; Twelfth Night; Pericles; The Winter's Tale; The Two Gentleman of Verona; Cymbeline.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With spotting to the early and latter few pages and then sporadically in the text. The top closed edge is toned, with a couple of dark marks (see final close-up photo), and mild tanning and spotting to the other two sides. 

Green cloth covered boards have gold Art Nouveau decoration and titles to the front and spine. In good order. With some rubbing and rounding of the corners and spine ends, and a little rubbing along the outside edges. Some fading of the green in places on the back, but overall a clean, bright and smart copy.
