1910 Christina Rossetti Poems / Beautifully Illustrated in Colour by Florence Harrison / In Good Condition / Blackie & Sons, London

In good condition here is an absolutely beautiful copy of Christina Rossetti's Poems. Richly illustrated by Florence Harrison with thirty-six coloured plates, sixteen line drawings plus numerous vignettes and illustrative devices in the text. Undated but published in 1910 by Blackie and Son, London. In cream cloth with ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine. With a couple of minor condition points to the boards (detailed below), else very good.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound, with just the occasional folded corner. Opens onto illustrated endpapers. All of the thirty-six tipped in colour plates are present as called for. The top closed edge is gilt. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership.

The cream cloth covered boards have ornate, striking gilt decoration to the front and spine. I believe somebody has added a little faint red colour to the lips of the lady on the front, after publication, but this is hard to spot (see close-up photo). There are some tiny dark spots to the front, and just the odd thin faint mark to the front and back, but minor. The spine has tanned a little, and has one small brown mark, otherwise the gilt is shiny bright and this is an extremely eye-catching large book.
