In excellent condition, here is a beautiful antique hardback copy of The Rebel of the School by LT Meade. Being a first edition published by W&R Chambers, London. With eight black and white illustrations and eye-catching decorative boards.

By 1902, L. T. Meade was at the height of her popularity. She was one of the most prolific and influential writers of girls’ school stories, predating Angela Brazil and shaping the genre’s early conventions. The Rebel of the School is part of her “spirited girl disrupts a rigid school system” cycle — a formula she helped invent.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Small ink blot to one page, and a faint dark mark to the top of one plate. Inked inscription to the verso of the frontispiece dated 1923. All of the illustrations are present as called for.

Deep blue cloth over boards have bright striking decoration to the front and spine. Again in top order. A little rubbing to the cloth on the corners and spine ends, otherwise superb. Gilt has remained shiny bright.

Your antique copy of The Rebel of the School will be wrapped with great care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to include a gift message in the parcel if desired.
