Here is a lovely antique copy of To Tell the King the Sky is Falling by Shelia E Braine. Undated but would have been published in 1897 by Blackie & Son, London. Richly illustrated throughout by Alice B Woodward. In good condition with the main condition point to note being that two of the small illustrations have been neatly coloured in (see photos).

The story follows two orphaned siblings, Max and Molly, who are unhappy with their lives. They are taken on a magical tour by fairies through a fairy realm where they encounter various characters from well-known Western children's stories and nursery rhymes. It's a delightful tale that blends adventure, fantasy, and the classic theme of finding happiness and purpose.

Alice B. Woodward and is known for her charming and whimsical illustrations and there are many in this edition.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Has an inked inscription on the front free endpaper dated 1899. All edges are shiny gilt. The book has a very slight lean.

Green cloth covered boards have cream decoration to the front and gilt to the spine. All in top order with just a little rubbing to the cloth at the corners and spine ends.
