In good condition, here is a beautiful antique copy of Headlong Hall and Nightmare Abbey by T Love Peacock. Published by Macmillan and Co., Limited London in 1896 and is a first edition thus. This book is actually a Presentation Copy, with a blind stamp to indicate this at the bottom of the title page. With numerous superb illustrations by HR Millar and with striking Art Nouveau boards by Albert Angus Turbayne. Turbayne covers are highly sought after, especially in good condition, like this one.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound, with a few creased corner tips. Opens onto super yellow decorative endpapers (also by Turbayne), with a small inked inscription on the front free endpaper dated 1940. Richly illustrated throughout with black and white line drawings. All edges are gilt and these have some light scuffs but remain shiny and bright.

In striking dark blue cloth covered boards with ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine. Again in top order. Has some rubbing to the corners and spine ends, and some very slight rubbing to the gilt but this is minor and this is a very good copy indeed looking extremely eye-catching on display.
