1896 Half Hours in the Tiny World - Wonders of Insect Life / James Nisbet, London / Richly Illustrated / Gilt Edged Pages / Good Condition
In good condition, here is a lovely antique copy of Half Hours in the Tiny World - Wonders of Insect Life. Published in 1896 by James Nisbet & Co., London. Richly illustrated throughout in black and white. Gilt edged on all sides.
The Half-Hour Library of Travel, Nature and Science is referred to as being for Young Readers, but the books are filled with information and today we would deem the books equally suited for adult readers.
Contents: About a Caterpillar; The Spider and Its Webs; Bees and Beehives; Wasps and Paper Making; Silk and Silkworms; About Flies; Ants and Ant Hills; Ants and Their Organisation; Life in a Drop of Water; Coral and Coral Builders; Nature and Her Tools; Nature and What is Small; Use of the Eyes.
Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound, with light scattered spotting. Has an elegantly-inked inscription on the front free endpaper dated 1896 (see photos).
Navy blue cloth covered boards have attractive black and gilt decoration to the front and spine. Has some rubbing to the cloth on the corner tips and spine ends. The blue of the spine has faded in comparison to the strong colour of the front and rear boards. The gilt on the front remains sparkly bright.
Your vintage copy of Half Hours in the Tiny World will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and will be sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
