1894 Christmas Books Including A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens / Chapman & Hall, London / Lovely Antique Book / Plus Hard Times

In excellent condition here is a lovely antique version of Charles Dickens' five Christmas books plus the novel Hard Times. Published in 1894 by Chapman & Hall, London. With sixty-seven black and white illustrations.

The five Christmas Books are: A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket and the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or other markings of previous ownership. Has some slight tanning to the frontispiece illustration tissue guard, and mild spotting to the outside edges. A few of the bottom corners have a small area of loss at the tip - but minor. There is a small tear to the rear endpaper. Packed full of illustrations, including reproductions of the title pages used for the original novellas. The book has developed a very slight lean.

Dark red cloth covered boards have a gilt stamped crown in the centre of the front board, and gilt titles to the spine. The boards have kept a good deep red colour. The spine has tanned just a little in comparison to the front and back. The gilt titles remain bright.
