1900 The True Story Book by Andrew Lang / Many Illustrations

In very good condition here is a copy of The True Story Book published by Longmans, Green & Co., London in 1900. Between them Andrew Lang and Longmans, Green and Company were responsible for producing some of the finest books in Victorian England. After the success of his Blue, Red and Green Fairy Books, Lang went on to produce this True Story Book before returning once more to the Fairy series. With numerous swashbuckling black and white illustrations by Bogle; Lucien Davis; HJ Ford; CHM Kerr and Lancelot Speed.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Does have spotting throughout the book. Has a bookplate on the front free endpaper which has been half removed (see photos), but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. The pages are gilt edged on all sides and this has remained sparkly bright and shiny.

The blue cloth boards are extremely eye-catching with bright gilt decoration to the front and spine. All in top order. Has some rubbing to the cloth on the corners to reveal boards beneath at the tips. Rubbing also to the cloth on the spine ends. Otherwise with just the odd very faint mark to the boards, this is a striking book.
