Here is a striking edition of The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan. Undated but would have been published in the late 1890s by George Routledge & Sons, London. In gorgeous decorative boards and with fifty-eight illustrations in colour and black and white. Has been re-backed and is in good condition.
Has been re-backed which means a new spine cloth has been laid down with the original decorative cloth reapplied on top. This ensures that the binding is really good and strong for the future. As part of this process new endpapers are applied. The brown cloth covered boards have a light blue and black stamped floral design. They are extremely eye-catching having kept good strong colours. Has some rubbing to the corners to reveal boards at the tips. The gilt titles are shiny bright.
Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound, with just the odd nick, dark mark and brown blemish. Cracks open at the gutter in one place early on, but the binding of the text block remains good and strong. Has an inscription on the front free endpaper dated 1902, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. With four colour plates and over fifty black line drawn illustrations.
Your antique copy of Pilgrim's Progress will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and will be sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message to the parcel.
H 20 cm x W 15 cm, 448 pages, 0.8 kg. I dispatch worldwide daily from the UK. (There are just a very few countries which I am unable to ship to).
* If you would prefer for your book not to be decoratively wrapped and sent simply in the full packaging please add a note to the order.
