In excellent condition, here is a beautiful antique copy of Every-day Art Short Essays on the Arts Not Fine, by Lewis Foreman Day. Published in 1882 by BT Batsford, London. Richly illustrated in black and white throughout. With lovely decorative boards. Condition in detail below.

A collection of short, highly readable essays about the principles of good design in everyday life: ornament; taste; decoration; colour; imitation; craftsmanship; and how ordinary people can improve the beauty of their surroundings. It’s one of Day’s most influential works on practical design thinking.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Pretty floral endpapers have an elegantly-inked inscription to the front free endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. The top edge is gilt.

Dark blue cloth over boards have ornate Art Nouveau gilt decoration to the front and spine. Again in top order. Just a little rubbing to the cloth on the corners and spine ends, with a few small splits at the head of the spine.

Your antique copy of Everyday Art will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged with tracking and insurance. I am always happy to include a gift card and message.
