1870s Christmas Carols New and Old - Illustrated Antique Music Book

This is a very old and beautiful antique collection of 42 carols, Christmas Carols New and Old Edited by Revd. HR Bramley. Undated but research shows it would have been published in 1870 by Novello, Ewer and Co., London. With numerous engravings by The Brothers Dalziel (see photos). A large format book. Some of the carols featured include: God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen; The First Nowell; Good Christian Men Rejoice and Good King Wenceslas amongst many others

Inside the pages are superb having just some mild occasional spotting and the odd dark blemish. Has a couple of inked names on the front paste down - one struck through. At the end there is an Index of Composers and Authors. Shiny gilt-edged on all sides.

Deep-blue cloth backed boards are incredibly striking, with bevelled edges. Just a little rubbing at the head and tail of the spine - but hardly noticeable. The ornate gilt and decoration remain shiny bright and this is a very attractive book.
