1865 The Christian Garland - A Companion For Leisure Hours / 8 Wonderful Kronheim Colour Plates Featuring Botanical Floral and Nature Scenes

Wonderfully illustrated with eight Kronheim botanical and nature colour lithographs, here is an antique copy of The Christian Garland or A Companion For Leisure Hours. Undated but was published in 1865 by The Religious Tract Society, London. Being a selection of poetry and prose on subjects such as wild flowers and wild fruits.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with some light scattered spotting. With some writing in pencil on the verso of the front free endpaper describing some background to the book and the colour plates so I have left this as it is for the future reader (see final photo). Gapes at the gutter in a few places but the binding is good and strong and all the colour plates are in top order. All edges gilt.

Maroon red cloth covered boards have ornate stamped decoration to the front, back and spine. With gilt decoration and titles also. Again in very good condition. The spine has faded a good deal in comparison to the front and back, otherwise clean and bright with minimal signs of wear. In very good order for a book of 160 years old.
