Christmas Books and Stories by Charles Dickens- Vintage Illustrated Two-Volume Set

Two super vintage editions in excellent condition. Combining to make a comprehensive collection of a good number of Charles Dickens' stories including A Christmas Carol and four of his other Christmas stories known as The Christmas Books. Plus another collection known as Christmas Stories which were short stories that he wrote after the five Christmas novellas. Also included are a Tale of Two Cities and Reprinted Pieces. Undated, but research shows them to have been published by Hazell, Watson and Viney of London in the 1930s. Illustrated with original drawings by a number of artists including Phiz (see photos).

The five Christmas novellas comprise: A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket on the Hearth; The Battle For Life; The Haunted Man.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or any other markings of previous ownership. The odd folded corner. The tops of the closed edges are tinted red.

With hard-wearing and attractive dark-red faux-leather boards. The fronts have a blind-stamped signature of Charles Dickens, and decorative border in the centre. Just a couple of faint marks here. Rubbing to the corners. The spines are excellent with shiny gilt decoration and titles. Looking extremely eye-catching on display.
