c1910 Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen / Beautiful Ethel Larcombe Art Nouveau Design to the Boards / Antique Hardback Book In Good Condition

Here is a lovely antique hardback copy of Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey. Undated but research shows it would have been published around 1910 by Blackie and Sons Ltd of London. Has an absolutely gorgeous Art Nouveau design on the front board and to the spine. Designed by Ethel Larcombe under the direction of Talwin Morris, Art Director at the Glasgow-based publishers Blackie & Son.

Opens onto a pencilled inscription on the front paste down, but otherwise there is no other writing or markings of previous ownership. The pages are clean and tightly bound on the inside, with some tanning to the endpapers. Has a black and white frontispiece, else unillustrated.

Bound in the original red cloth covered boards with green and cream Art Nouveau decoration. The design and the gilt on the spine are bright. With some rubbing to the cloth on the corners and spine ends. Has rubbing and some faint marks to the rear board and some fading of the red on the bottom edge on the back (see photos).
