In very good condition, here is a vintage hardback copy of The Ice Desert by Jules Verne. Undated but research shows it to date from the 1940s. Published by Ward, Lock & Co., London.

First published in 1846, the story follows the daring Captain Hatteras and his crew as they journey deep into the Arctic, striving to reach the North Pole. Verne blends scientific speculation with imaginative invention: The explorers encounter surreal landscapes, including red snow and open leads in the ice. A dramatic climax features a volcano at the pole and Hatteras’s descent into obsession. The narrative explores themes of ambition, madness, and the limits of human endurance.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With no writing or other markings of previous ownership. Unillustrated.

In the original unclipped dust wrapper. This has also fared very well. With just some slight rubbing to the spine ends and corners, and mild spotting to the back panel. The illustration on the front and spine has remained colourful and un-faded. There is a small white mark on the front. The jacket has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable plastic sleeve.
