1933 Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen / Daily Express Publications, London / Vintage Illustrated Jane Austen Book / In Very Good Condition

In excellent condition, here is a lovely vintage copy of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, published by The Daily Express, London in 1933. This copy has some additional extras to the novel. It opens with a portrait of Austen by Jane's sister Cassandra as a frontispiece. Then there is a Foreword "Jane Austen-The Woman and Her Book" by Wilfred Partington with a drawing of Jane Austen's famous writing desk. There then follows a Biographical Notice originally written in 1817 with further illustrations of Steventon Parsonage and Chawton Cottage in Hampshire. Over ninety years old.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound, with no writing or other markings of previous ownership. The top closed edge being tinted black, with some mild tanning and spotting to the other two edges. 

The black boards are also in top order having kept a good dark black colour without fading, and the gilt is sparkly bright.
