1930s Christmas Books by Charles Dickens / Collins Clear-Type Press, London / 5 Christmas Stories / Illustrated / Includes A Christmas Carol

Here is a lovely antique version of Charles Dickens' five Christmas books. Undated but would have been published in the 1920s to 1930s by Collins Clear-Type Press, London. With eight black and white illustrations and with attractive Art Nouveau decoration to the front and spine. Has some faded areas on the back, and some tanning to the pages being the main condition points to note, otherwise in good condition.

The five Christmas Books included here are: A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket and the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man. 

Inside the pages have the above-mentioned tanning but are otherwise clean and tightly bound with the odd nicked edge. Has a frontispiece illustration and seven further black and white plates. The top edge is gilt.

Green cloth covered boards have blind stamped Art Nouveau decoration to the front, gilt titles and red and gilt cabbage rose decoration to the spine. The front board is in top order with just a little rubbing to the corner tips. The rear board has some faded spots along the fore-edge (see final photo). The spine has some rubbing and a few tiny splits in the cloth at the ends. The decoration remains bright with a couple of creases down the length.
