1915 Tales From Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb / Beautifully Illustrated by May Mullinger / Antique Book in Very Good Condition

In very good condition, here is a beautifully illustrated antique copy of Tales From Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb. Published in 1915 by Robert Scott, London. With sixteen plates which are a mixture of colour and monochrome. Also has line drawn headers to each play.

The Tales are a beloved collection of adaptations that makes the works of William Shakespeare more accessible and enjoyable, especially for younger readers. Re-telling some of Shakespeare's most famous plays in prose form, simplifying the complex language while preserving the essence and charm of the original stories.

Contents: The Tempest; A Midsummer Night's Dream; The Winter's Tale; Much Ado About Nothing; As You Like It; The Merchant of Venice; King Lear; Macbeth; The Taming of the Shrew; Measure For Measure; Twelfth Night; Romeo and Juliet; Hamlet; Othello; Pericles.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Has tanning to the endpapers, with a small inked name at the top of the front free endpaper. Tanning and spotting also to the closed outside edges. All illustrated plates have a captioned tissue guard, and they are all in good condition.

In grey and cream papered boards and spine, with ornate gilt decoration to the latter. Again good - with some mild tanning to the boards, some slight darkening to the spine and one slight bump to the front fore-edge. Otherwise clean and smart.
