1903 Little Women and Good Wives by Louisa May Alcott - Antique Book

A well-made impressive edition of Louisa May Alcott's Little Women and Good Wives. Undated but has a bookplate dated 1903. Published by James Nisbet & Co, Limited of London, this is a fairly large format antique edition. More details below.

Inside the pages are good, being clean and tightly bound. Has the above-mentioned prize bookplate from 1903 on the front paste down, and an inked inscription to the top of the Preface page (see photos). Tanning to the endpapers. There is a cracked hinge at the beginning - giving the front board a wobble, but in no way effecting the binding of the text block, which is good and strong. With one black and white illustrated plate, else unillustrated. Also has a pressed four-leaf clover inside. I shall endeavour to keep this in. Gilt edged on all sides.

Bound in striking olive-green cloth over boards with beautiful ornate stamped decoration to the front, and gilt decoration to the spine. In top order. A couple of thin scratches to the cloth on the lower, back board. Slight rubbing to the glit on the spine. Otherwise the gilt remains shiny bright.
