1898 The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte in Two Volumes / Downey & Co., London / Lovely Antique Books / In Good Condition
In good condition, here is a lovely antique edition of Anne Bronte's novel The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, in two volumes. Published in 1898 by Downey & Co., London as part of a series called the Novels of the Sisters Bronte, or The Thornton Edition. Fairly large in size (dimensions are listed below).
Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Cracks open at the hinge near the beginning of Volume I, but in no way effecting the binding of the text block which is good and strong. With a small neatly-inked name to the front free endpapers. Has a portrait frontispiece and tissue-guard to Volume I, else unillustrated. With untrimmed, rough-cut edges and gilt along the tops. Has the very occasional nicked edge and brown blemish.
In olive-green cloth covered boards with attractive ornate gilt decoration to the spines. With a yellow mark to the front of Volume I (see photos). With slight rubbing to the corners and spine ends. With some fading to the green on the spine of Volume I. The gilt decoration remains bright and un-faded, and this is an eye-catching set on display.
Your antique copy of Anne Bronte's Tenant of Wildfell Hall will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to add a gift card with a message if desired.
