Here is a lovely antique version of Mansfield Park published by Macmillan and Co., London in 1897. Being a first in this particular edition. Illustrated with forty beautiful drawings by Hugh Thomson which have gone on to help generations of readers picture the novels (see photos). There is also an Introduction by Austin Dobson. In good condition, with some brown staining to a few of the corners being the main condition point to note.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With some spotting to the endpapers and to the frontispiece tissue-guard. Has the above-mentioned brown staining to the bottom corner of the opening few pages, including frontispiece and title page, and then to the occasional corner in the text. Otherwise very good with no writing or other markings of previous ownership.

Bound in the original publisher's period binding of deep red cloth covered boards. They have a blind stamped floral design incorporating an "M" for Macmillan to the front and back. Clean and smart, with some fading to the red on the spine. Gilt titles remain bright.
