1890s Fairy Tales and Stories by Hans Christian Andersen - Antique Illustrated Book

In excellent condition, here is a super antique hardback copy of Fairy Tales and Stories by Hans Christian Andersen. Undated, but would have been published in the 1890s by George Routledge and Sons, London. With 60 line drawings by AW Bayes. A comprehensive edition containing a huge number of tales - The Ugly Duckling; The Red Shoes and The Snow Queen amongst them.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing or markings of previous ownership. The top closed edge is tinted brown.

Light brown cloth over boards have very attractive floral decoration to the front and spine, plus jester illustration and shiny gilt titles. All in top order. Just a little rubbing to the cloth surface in places to remove some of the brown colour (see photos). Otherwise very clean and smart, and this is an extremely eye-catching book.
