1880s The Poetical Works of William Cowper: Illustrated Antique Book

In excellent condition, here is a beautifully bound antique copy of The Poetical Works of William Cowper. In a lovely bright red binding with ornate decoration. Undated, but published in the 1880s by Gall & Inglis. Illustrated and with shiny gilt on all page edges. An eye-catching copy.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or inscriptions. Has a frontispiece illustration plus three further engravings. Each page of text is in a decorative frame. Clean, tight and square.

In bright red cloth over boards with ornate decoration to the front and spine, and bevelled edges. Blind stamped decoration to the rear board - there are some light marks here. The front board is in superb condition with just some very slight rubbing to the red cloth. The decoration remains sparkly bright. The red on the spine has dulled a bit in comparison to the front, but the decoration remains bright. Slight rubbing to the cloth on the corners and spine ends. With some small splits in the cloth at the spine head and tail.
