In very good condition here is a large and authoritative antique hardback copy of The Natural History of Man by Rev JG Wood. Published in 1880 by George Routledge & Sons, London. Extremely comprehensive and richly illustrated. It should be noted that this book is a product of its Victorian time, and so now has views and terminology that we today find uncomfortable or unacceptable. For example the term "uncivilized" for the indigenous communities studied. A large volume - at 864 pages.

This volume covers: Australia; New Zealand; New Caledonia; Andaman and Nicobar Islands; New Guinea; Philippine Islands; Fiji; Solomon Islands and New Hebrides; Samoa or The Navigators' Islands; Hervey and Kingsmill Islands; Niue or Savage Island; Society Islands; Sandwich Islands; Caroline Archipelago; Borneo; America; India; Tartary and China; Japan; Siam; Ancient Europe.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing other markings of previous ownership. With light spotting to the endpapers. Has marbled edges. 

Dark green cloth covered boards have superb black and gilt decoration to the front and spine. In top order. With a little rubbing to the corners and and couple of small bumps to the fore-edge. With some mild creasing to the cloth at the head of the spine. Overall very good indeed for a book of 145 years old. Looking striking on display.
