Here is an absolutely delightful Victorian picture book with a moral or story accompanied by an illustration on every page. The Little Folks Picture Gallery. Undated but would have been published by Cassell, Petter & Galpin, London in the 1870s. 

Filled with delightful engravings, mostly depicting children at play, with dolls, toys, pets, and even some animals. It's a nostalgic look at childhood and the simple joys of life during that time.

The stories often feature children embarking on small adventures, learning life lessons, and finding joy in everyday moments. There's a mix of stories where animals play a central role, reflecting the Victorian fascination with nature and wildlife. Many of the stories convey moral teachings, typical of children's literature from that time period.

Inside this copy the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With some light spotting. They have some nicks and chips to the edges and the occasional folded corner. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership. All edges are gilt. The book has developed a mild lean over time.

Green cloth covered boards have ornate black and gilt decoration and a central sunken vignette of lady with a child. Extremely eye-catching. Has some rubbing around the edges and to the corners to reveal boards beneath at the tips. With some rubbing also to the cloth on the spine joints and spine ends, and to the gilt on the spine. A very attractive Victorian book.
