1870s Christmas Carols New & Old - 42 Carols Music with Lyrics, Antique Book

In very good condition, here is a very old and beautiful antique collection of forty-two carols. Christmas Carols New and Old Edited by Revd. HR Bramley. Undated but research shows it would have been published in 1870 by Novello, Ewer and Co., London. With numerous engravings by The Brothers Dalziel (see photos). A large format book (see dimensions below).

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With some spotting to the frontispiece, tissue guard and title page (see photos). It has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership. At the end there is an Index of Composers and Authors. Shiny gilt-edged on all sides.

Red decorative cloth over boards are incredibly striking with bevelled edges. The front is in wonderful condition, with bright shiny decoration. Rubbing to the front fore-edge, and a faint dark mark near the bottom. A few light marks on the back - but minor. The red of the spine has faded a good deal in comparison to the front and back. With some rubbing and a little loss to the cloth on the spine ends. The gilt and decoration on the spine remain bright.
