Here is a lovely antique hardback edition of At The Back of the North Wind by George Macdonald. Undated but with an inscription from 1897 on the half-title page. Published by Blackie & Son, London. With seventy-five excellent illustrations by Arthur Hughes (see photos).

At the Back of the North Wind is a children's book originally written in 1868. It is a fantasy centred on a boy named Diamond and his adventures with the North Wind. Diamond travels together with the mysterious Lady North Wind through the nights.

Inside has the above-mentioned inscription at the top of the half-title page (see photos) but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. The main CONDITION POINT to note with this copy is heavy foxing to the early pages and then scattered through the text. Otherwise pages are tightly bound with no cracked hinges but just a very slight lean. The outside edges are tinted green.

In very attractive olive-green cloth covered boards with pale-blue and gilt decoration to the front and spine. Has mild rubbing to the corners and spine ends, but minor. With a couple of small bumps to the outside edges.
