In good condition here is a super vintage hardback copy of the acclaimed novel On the Beach by British author Nevil Shute. Published in 1957 by Heinemann, London. With the original dust wrapper.

On the Beach is an apocalyptic novel written by Shute after he emigrated to Australia. The novel details the experiences of a mixed group of people in Melbourne as they await the arrival of deadly radiation spreading towards them from the Northern Hemisphere, following a nuclear war some years previously. As the radiation approaches, each person deals with impending death differently.

The book went on to be made into a film of the same name in 1959 starring Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire and Anthony Perkins.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or other markings of previous ownership. There is spotting to the closed outside edges.

In the original unclipped dust wrapper which is also in top order having kept bright un-faded colours (design by John Rowland). With some mild edge wear along the top and bottom edges. With some light rubbing to the wrapper on the corners and the spine ends. With a few small nicks and chips to the head and tail of the spine. These are minor and the smart jacket has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable plastic sleeve.
