A richly illustrated antique hardback copy of Greek Wonder Tales. Translated by Lucy MJ Garnett. Published in 1913 by Adam and Charles Black, London. With twelve colour plates and a super decorative cloth binding. Condition in detail below.
Contents: The Mother of the Sea, or The Story of Yianko; The Wild Man; The King of the Birds; Thrice-Noble or The Three Citrons; The Nereid; The Tower of the Forty Dhrakos and the King of the Golden Apple; The Stringla Princess; The Queen of the Gorgons; The Sugar Man; The Quest of the Golden Wand; The Snake Prince; The Widow's Son; The Talking Wand; The Beautiful Princess.
Inside the pages have some tanning and spotting throughout the text. Tanning and spotting also to the closed outside edges, with toning along the top. Lacks the blank front free endpaper and so opens directly on to the half-title page where there is an inked inscription in the top corner from 1922. All twelve colour plates are present as called for, and all in good order.
Light-brown cloth over boards have eye-catching decoration to the front and spine. This has all remained in very good order. Some slight rounding to the corners and spine ends. The spine has tanned ever so slightly in comparison to the front/back. A striking volume on display.
