1913 A Christmas Carol - CE Brock Illustrations, JM Dent London - Antique Christmas Book

As Christmas books go, they do not get much better than this. A gorgeous edition of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol beautifully illustrated by CE Brock. Published in 1913 by JM Dent & Co., London.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With an elegantly-inked inscription on the front free endpaper dated December 1915, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Tanning to endpapers. All of the illustrations are present as called for and all in good order. The frontispiece still has its original tissue guard (clean and bright). Has a number of other line drawn illustrations and decoration in the text. The top edge is shiny gilt. The book has developed a mild lean over the years.

Bound in beautifully designed cream cloth over boards decorated with dark grey cherubim and holly. With shiny gilt behind the titles (mildly rubbed). Has a few very faint dark handling marks on the back - but minor. Slight rounding to corner tips. The gilt is shiny bright and this is a striking Christmas book.
