1911 Little Songs For Little People Told by Githa Sowerby and Illustrated by Millicent Sowerby / Decorated With Twelve Lovely Colour Plates

I'm delighted with this find of a scarce copy of Little Songs For Little People. Selected by Githa Sowerby and illustrated by Millicent Sowerby with twelve of her wonderful colour plates and decorations to the text. Undated but published in 1911 by Humphrey Frowde, London. In good condition.

Contains Hot Cross Buns; A Song of Sixpence; Little Bo-Peep; Baa Baa Black Sheep; Lavender's Blue amongst the twenty-five songs.

Inside the contents are in good order, with just the occasional spot through the text. Opens with an inscription at the top of the front paste down (partially obscured for data protection in final photo). There is a stamped number at the top of the contents page, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All of the colour plates are present as called for and the musical staves are in a decorative border.

Blue cloth covered boards have ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine. The front board is in superb condition with shiny bright gilt. There is one condition point to note which is a scuff across the bottom edge of the colour paste down illustration. (Goes right across the bottom edge). Otherwise superb with sparky gilt. The gilt on the spine has dulled a bit in comparison but is still easily visible. With just a little rubbing to the spine ends. With one scuff and a couple of faint marks on the back, and with mildly bumped corners.
