1910s Christmas Books by Charles Dickens / Griffith Farran Browne & Co. Ltd, London / Five Christmas Stories / Includes A Christmas Carol

In good condition, here is a beautiful and very distinctive antique version of Charles Dickens' five Christmas Books. Undated but would have been published in the 1910s by Griffith Farran Browne & Co., London. In a binding I have never come across before. Fairly large-format (see dimensions below).

The five books are: A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket and the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man. 

Inside the pages have tanned but are otherwise super, being clean, and tightly bound. With some tanning also to the close outside edges. Has a bookplate on the front paste down dated "Xmas 1917", but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Has a colour frontispiece, else unillustrated.

Blue cloth covered boards have a delightful floral design that I have never seen before. Decoration is to the front and spine, with dark blue titles on the front and gilt to the spine. In very good order. Has some mild bumping to the corners and slight rounding of the cloth at the spine ends. The blue of the spine has rubbed and faded a little in comparison to the front, but the gilt is bright and this is an extremely eye-catching copy.
