1906 A Memoir of Jane Austen by Her Nephew JE Austen Leigh / Biography - Also Includes Lady Susan & The Watsons

In very good condition, here is an antique copy of A Memoir of Jane Austen by her nephew James Edward Austen Leigh. Published in 1906 by Macmillan and Co., London. With a black and white portrait frontispiece and also includes Lady Susan and The Watsons.

Originally published in 1869, the memoir is a significant work that provides valuable insight into the life and personality of one of England's most beloved novelists.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Inscription to the front free endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Also includes a facsimile of a letter (see photos).

Dark red cloth over boards have gilt titles to the spine. A couple of slightly faded areas, otherwise the cloth has kept a good dark colour. A light scuff half-way down the spine. Light rubbing to the cloth on the spine ends.

Overall smart, square and tightly bound.
