1903 Christmas Books by Charles Dickens, Including A Christmas Carol / Chapman & Hall Ltd, London / Fireside Dickens / Richly Illustrated

In very good condition, here is a charming edition of Charles Dickens' five Christmas Books comprising; A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket on the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man. Known as The Fireside Edition and published by Chapman & Hall Ltd, London in the early 1900s. With 65 superb illustrations.

The contents are clean and tightly bound, with spotting to the endpapers. Has some tanning to the page edges and a few folded/creased corners. Packed full of black line drawn illustrations, with some reproductions to the first edition title pages.

Green/blue cloth covered boards are an attractive colour. With a black stamped fireside illustration and titles on the front board and CD, monogram of Dickens' initials to the rear. In top order, with just one very faint red line on the front near the bottom.

The eye-catching decorative spine looks excellent on display. With an ornate black stamped pattern and gilt titles. With a couple of very faint red marks near the gilt titles and has some light rubbing to the cloth on the corners and spine ends/joints. Otherwise the gilt and decoration remain bright.
