In good condition, here is an antique copy of The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection or The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle For Life by Charles Darwin. Published in 1892 by John Murray, London. This is an early printing of the Sixth and Final Edition, With Darwin's Last Major Corrections And Revisions, First Published In 1872, (this copy printed 1892), One Of The First Forty-Third Thousand Copies Of The Origin Of Species Printed In England. It is incredibly hard to get hold of copies this age still in good condition. This copy is in a super prize calf-binding and is complete with the folding diagram on p. 85.
PLEASE NOTE: this is a valuable book which would be best sent by courier. After placing the order please message me with your mobile number for the courier booking. Etsy do not automatically collect mobile numbers at checkout and these are required for courier bookings.
Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With spotting at the endpapers. The page edges are tinted speckled red, as issued. Has a prize bookplate from the Lord's Admiralty on the front paste down dated 1893, with an inked name opposite on the front free endpaper and a small stamp from the Lord's Admiralty on the verso of the title page.
In a contemporary calf-leather binding with dark green (almost black) marble effect cloth sides. In very good order. There are some light rubbing marks to the dark cloth. With some rubbing also to the leather at the corners and spine ends. The spine has five raised bands, with shiny gilt decoration in each compartment and a black leather title plate.
A very smart book indeed. Your antique copy of The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin will be wrapped with care in tissue and ribbon* and sent well packaged. I am always happy to include a gift message in the parcel if required.
H 19 cm x W 13.5 cm, 432 pages, 0.67 kg. I dispatch worldwide daily from the UK. (There are just a very few countries which I am unable to ship to).
* If you would prefer for your book not to be decoratively wrapped but sent simply in the full protective packaging, please add a note to the order.
