1876 The Poets and Poetry of Scotland in Four Volumes - Illustrated / WITH SOME WEAR

An attractive antique set of The Poets and Poetry of Scotland in Four Volumes. Undated, but research shows it would have been published in 1876 by Blackie & Son, London. Has black and white portrait illustrations of the poets. With some wear and signs of age (detailed below), but remaining a lovely set.

The main condition point to note is that there are a few loose pages in Volume II and Volume IV. They remain attached, but are loose. Otherwise pages are tightly bound. With some spotting, tanning and some dark handling marks. A few chips and closed tears. The portraits have tissue guards. All edges are gilt.

Bound in light brown cloth over boards with ornate dark brown and gilt decoration to the fronts, backs and spines. With a few light marks to the cloth and rubbing to the corners and spine ends. The gilt remains bright, and these look lovely together on display.

So with a bit of antique wear, but remaining a lovely set.
