Scarce 1949 Works of the Bronte Sisters / Complete in Five Volumes / The Heather Edition

In excellent condition. The most attractive edition of the Bronte's complete novels that I have come across. Published in London in 1949 by Allan Wingate this series is known as "The Heather Edition". This is because the cloth covered boards are in a gorgeous heather/lilac colour and the title page also follows the same theme (see photo). Condition in detail below.

The six comprise: Wuthering Heights (with Agnes Grey); Jane Eyre; The Tenant of Wildfell Hall; Shirley; Villette; The Professor with Poems and Miscellanea.

Inside the contents are clean and tightly bound, with no writing or marks. Some spotting and a few faint marks to the closed outside edges. This is an unillustrated edition.

The heather cloth covered boards are very attractive indeed, with just the odd light mark - but minor. Having kept their beautiful colour. (The spine of Villette has faded a bit in comparison to the other spines). The remaining spines have a uniform, bright colour.
