1972 North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell / Oxford University Press, London / Original Dust Wrapper / Extra Background and Notes

Copies of North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell are always highly desirable and keenly sought after. Here we have a lovely vintage hardback copy in the original dust wrapper. Published in 1973 by Oxford University Press. The contents are in good condition, with a few light marks to the dust wrapper.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound with no writing or other markings of previous ownership. This is an unillustrated edition, but in addition to the text there is a Chronology of Gaskell, a Select Bibliography and Explanatory Notes.

The dust wrapper has a scuffed area on the front top right to remove some of the surface blue. There is a little edge wear along the top with a few small nicks and one chip on the back. With a couple of light scuffs on the back and the spine. The front flap has been price clipped. The jacket is unfaded with strong colouring and really stands out on the bookshelf. It has now been protected for the future by the addition of a removable archival plastic sleeve.
