1945 The Spiders and Allied Orders of the British Isles / Frederick Warne & Co, Ltd / Numerous Illustrations / Scarce Dust Wrapper

Here is a lovely vintage hardback copy of The Spiders and Allied Orders of the British Isles Comprising Descriptions of Every Family of British Spiders, Every Species of Harvestman and False Scorpion also The More Familiar of the British Mites and Sea-Spiders by Theodore Savory. This copy is a second edition by Frederick Warne & Co., Ltd of London published in 1945. Richly illustrated with colour plates and numerous illustrations. The contents are in good condition, and still comes with the original dust wrapper which has some wear, detailed below, but is also in good order.

The pages are clean and tightly bound. The edges of the pages are marbled brown speckled as produced. Has an inscription on the front free endpaper (see photos), but with no other writing or markings of previous ownership. With 63 figures in colour (see photos), 130 illustrations from photos and drawings and 88 diagrams in the text.

Bronze brown faux leather boards are also excellent having been well protected by the dust jacket. 

The scarce unclipped dust wrapper has some edge wear creases and some nicks. With some tears to the joins of the jacket with the flaps. These have been stabilised on the reverse inside with thin bookbinder's tape and are not really noticeable from the outside. Has a small area of loss at the head of the spine. The spine of the jacket has tanned a little. Despite a little wear the jacket remains very smart and presentable.
