1930 Hans Andersen's Fairy Stories Illustrated by Anne Anderson / The Children's Press / Eight Wonderful Colour Plates Plus Line Drawings

A scarce copy. Here is a most beautifully illustrated book by a wonderful artist. Hans Andersen's Fairy Tales Illustrated by Anne Anderson, undated but published in 1930 by The Children's Press. It is a large format hardback with eight colour plates and also black and white illustrations through the text (see photos).

Contents: The Drop of Water; The Tinder Box; The Garden of Paradise; The Little Mermaid; The Marsh King's Daughter; The Little Match Girl; Mother Elder; The Daisy.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. With mild spotting to the endpapers and around the outside of the pages. Has a pencilled inscription on the front free endpaper dated Xmas 1931 but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. All of the plates and illustrations are in super condition.

With an illustrated front board, grey rear board and yellow cloth spine. The main condition point to note is a small repair which has been made to the fore-edge on the front with some clear tape (see close-up photo). With some rubbing to the boards around the edges and to the corners to reveal boards beneath at the tips WIth just a few light scuffs to the back. Overall the binding and spine are clean, bright and good for a book of this age.
