1920 Mr Pickwick by Charles Dickens / Pages From the Pickwick Papers / Beautifully Illustrated by Frank Reynolds / Good Condition LARGE Book

An absolutely superb LARGE format deluxe edition of Mr Pickwick, being pages from The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club by Charles Dickens. Beautifully illustrated throughout by Frank Reynolds, this is a stunning book.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. There is some mild spotting scattered through the text and heavier foxing to the closed outside edges. With a couple of nicks and tears to the page edges near the beginning (not affecting the text). Has an inked inscription on the front free endpaper dated 1960 but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. With twenty-five tipped-in colour plates which are all present as called for, (see photos). Each colour plate has it's original tissue guard and description of the scene depicted. Some of the tissue guards have creases.

The eye-catching red cloth covered boards are in top order. With shiny gilt to the front and spine. Has just a couple of small faint marks on the front. The back has some light shelf wear scratches which can really only be seen by holding the book right up to the light. The red of the spine has faded a bit compared to the strong deep red on the front and back, with a few light marks. The gilt on the spine has remained shiny bright.
