A beautifully illustrated decorative antique book from 1910. The House of Prayer by Florence Converse published by JM Dent & Sons, London. A novel exploring faith, spirituality and human experience. With a colour frontispiece and seven line drawings by Margaret Ely Webb.

Inside pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing or other markings of previous ownership. There is tanning and spotting to the endpapers and the frontispiece tissue guard. With the occasional brown blemish and some brown staining to the corners (see photos). All of the illustrations are present as called for, and in good condition. Top edge is gilt, other edges are untrimmed.

Olive-green cloth covered boards have pale-blue and brown decoration to the front and spine. With a little rubbing and rounding to the corners and spine ends. Has a tiny bit of fraying to the spine head. The decoration on the spine has rubbed a little. No cracked hinges and a tight, square binding.
