1903 Christmas Books Including A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens / Chapman & Hall, London / Lovely Antique Book / Plus Hard Times

In very good condition here is a lovely antique version of Charles Dickens' five Christmas books plus the novel Hard Times. Published in 1903 by Chapman & Hall, London. With sixty-eight black and white illustrations.

The five Christmas Books are: A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket and the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With mild creasing to the top corners of a few pages - but minor. Has a small name at the top of the front free endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Red marbled endpapers, and the top closed edge is gilt. Mild spotting to the other two sides. Packed full of illustrations, including reproductions of the title pages used for the original novellas.

Bright red cloth over boards have gilt stamped decoration to the front, and ornate gilt pattern to the spine. Again in top order. Wit a little rubbing to the spine joints. Some scattered fading on the back near the spine joint and to the other edges. The red of the spine has faded in comparison to the front and back, but the gilt remains shiny bright and this is a striking antique book.
